DS Data Explorer requires Interprise Suite SP3 HF2 (2007.1.3.2) or higher.  Do not attempt to install on an older version.

    • Grid can be sorted and grouped.
    • Data can be sorted by multiple columns (Sort first by customer, then by transaction date)
    • Data can be grouped by multiple columns (Group first by customer, then by item)
    • Simple "Excel-like" filters available in drop-downs to limit to individual values.
    • Simple drag-and-drop interface
    • Advanced multi-part filter editor to build complex filters.
    • Columns can be removed and added to the grid.

    • Data can be grouped and subtotaled in many different ways on both the horizontal and vertical axis.

    • Data item area can hold multiple fields.
    • Excellent for analysis of data.  For example: View total sales, total cost, and total margin for all item sales, grouped by category, with totals for each month and year in a cross-tab type view.
    • A master filter field at the top of the pivot table allows additional cross sectioning of data (perhaps you want to see the above pivot table, for one, some, or all sales reps.)
    • Simple drop down filters allow selecting all or individual values to be included on both axis as well as the master filter.
    • Powerful pre-filter builder allows advanced multi-conditional filtering of data before it reaches the pivot table.
    • Simple drag-and-drop interface to move fields between axes or the available field list.
    • Rearrange grouping hierarchies to sub-total in different orders.  For example: Show total sales by customer, broken down by category with customer subtotals, or drag the column headers to show total sales by category broken down by customer with category subtotals.
    • Subtotals on both axes can be expanded and collapsed.
    • Special handling of dates to analyze by day, month, and year with the ability to collapse and expand to view the desired level of detail.
    • Simple "Best Fit" button to auto-size all columns for the best view.
    • Subtotals have a different background color to provide banding that makes large tables easy to read.
    • The entire pivot table including data source, filtering, sorting, axis layout, column sizing, and selection can be saved in a profile and reused.  This is useful for recurring analysis.  Simply build that sales analysis pivot table once, then reload it with fresh data any time you need it with just a few clicks.

  • Profiles containing the data source along with the grid and pivot table layouts can be saved and retrieved for reuse with fresh data at any time.
  • A robust security model is included to control access to your data.
    • Using the standard role manager in Interprise Suite, you can choose which roles have access to the DS Data Explorer.
    • Each profile within DS Data Explorer can be assigned to a single role, or "All Roles".
    • The "Administrator" group is allowed access to all profiles.
    • Any other role is only allowed access to profiles assigned to their role or "All Roles".
    • The "Administrator" group can create, edit, and delete profiles as well as import and export Analysis Packages.
    • Any other role is limited to only running existing profiles.  They can use all of the features of the grid and pivot table but can not modify the data source or any other profile setting.  This allows the administrator to build a profile with access to a certain data source and assign it to a role and know that the users in that role can't use DS Data Explorer to browse other sensitive financial information or data.
    • The SQL command box is restricted to a special "super-user".  Only this special user can enter direct SQL commands to be used as the data source for a profile.  This protects your database.
    • Once the "super-user" builds a profile, even if driven from a SQL command, it can be assigned to other roles for use by the users belonging to that role.
  • Analysis Packages provide a simple way to transport profiles between datasets or systems. 
    • An Analysis Package is an XML export of an entire profile.
    • Analysis Packages can be imported into the plugin and saved in your profile list.
    • You can export your own profiles as Analysis Packages to be shared or sold to other users of the plugin.
    • Analysis Packages provide a very cost effective way of designing and distributing data extraction and analysis solutions.  We can build an Analysis Package to your specification and deploy it to you in an email where you can import it and use it as a profile.  This can be done at a much lower cost than the development of a custom report or program.

These Analysis Packages come "Ready to Use" but you are free to drag some different fields (maybe you want analysis by Territory and Sales Rep instead of just Inventory Category) onto the Grid or Pivot Table and save additional profiles in your DS Data Explorer so they're always available for reuse.
